AND DEEDS OF FAITH.

Grace Church stands in the line of historic Christianity. Here is a summary of our nine core, historic beliefs:

THERE IS ONE TRIUNE GOD
The LORD our God is the one and only living and true God. In this divine and infinite Being there are three persons, the Father, the Son (or the Word) and the Holy Spirit.

THE BIBLE IS GOD’S WORD
The Holy Scriptures are the only sufficient, certain and infallible rule for saving knowledge, faith, and obedience.

GOD CREATED PEOPLE IN HIS OWN IMAGE
God created human beings in His image, with knowledge, righteousness, and true holiness. They are the crowning work of His creation, worthy of love, dignity, and respect regardless of matters like age, race, gender, or class.

PEOPLE NEED REDEMPTION
Because of the fall, the image of God in people has become corrupted, but not completely lost. Everyone sins in rebellion to God because we are born with a nature to sin, into an environment that encourages sin. This makes everyone subject to both spiritual and physical death, living lives in opposition to God. But because of His love for his creation, God has provided a way for us to be made right with Him. This reconciliation is available to us only by God’s grace, through Jesus Christ.

JESUS IS BOTH LORD AND CHRIST
Jesus is both truly God and truly human, yet one Christ, the only Mediator between God and the human race. He was born of a virgin, lived an obedient and sinless life, yet was crucified, died, and was buried. He rose from the dead and ascended into heaven where He sits at the right hand of God the Father. One day he will return.

JESUS IS THE ONLY WAY OF SALVATION
Since Christ alone is qualified to stand as a mediator between God and humans, salvation comes only through Him. No other religion, belief, or person can reconcile God and man. Christ alone can provide forgiveness and eternal salvation.

SALVATION IS BY FAITH ALONE
Salvation comes only through a faith relationship with Jesus Christ, the Savior. Evidence of this faith appears as a person repents of sin and accepts, receives, and rests on Christ alone for forgiveness and eternal life. Salvation is instantaneous and accomplished solely by the power of the Holy Spirit through the Word of God. This salvation is wholly of God by grace; it is on the basis of Christ’s life, death and resurrection, not on the basis of human works. All the redeemed are secured in Christ forever.

THE CHURCH IS CHRIST’S BODY
All people throughout the world who put their faith in Christ according to the Gospel, are placed immediately by the Holy Spirit into one, united spiritual Body, the Church. The Lord Jesus Christ is the head of the Church. The Church is responsible to live out Christ’s message and compassion in this world until He returns.

JESUS CHRIST WILL RETURN
In His own time and in His own way, God will bring the world to its appropriate end. As He promised, Jesus Christ will return to the Earth personally and visibly in His glory. The dead will be raised and Christ will judge all people righteously. The unrighteous will be consigned to Hell, the place of everlasting punishment. Believers, those “in Christ”, will receive glorified bodies and live forever in the presence of the Lord.
